I think I need to add a disclaimer to this crap blog about Dress Codes......I cannot stand pretentious people.........As much as I cannot stand pretentious people is almost as much as I cannot stand pretentious places. Actually, I cannot stand anything pretentious.
Now that I have established the ground rules we can get this rant going. Last night, I had dinner with a best bud and his girl friend to celebrate some great news about his health problem that I spoke about recently. He lives in an upscale golf and country club in South Florida where there are probably thousands in that class. It has the typical 17 mile beautiful entrance, a few golf courses, and of course the Club, aka restaurant/bar/etc. etc. Getting through the main gate is probably the first thing I can't stand as that usually entails showing a drivers license, blood test results, and a glimpse of your underwear. Once that is done you can proceed to that persons home. (Provided of course you are on the A list
I made it to his home down the perfectly manicured landscaping looking at the mailbox's that all are the same. ( If you have ever watched Weeds on TV, it is the same type of community )
We then went to the CLUB......Reservations required and Dress Code Enforced by the SS. I was warned before, so I left home the jeans, but still had to tuck in my linen shirt as that is a no no having it hang loose like it was meant to. I did however wear a pair of bright red glasses in the hopes of at least pissing one person off. Don't get me wrong because I was in the fashion business my entire life and think I know what is appropriate and not. But anyway, it is 2010 and the way of dress has certainly changed for both men and women.
I also had to remove my hat, but it was OK for several women to be wearing theirs. My point in not to belittle anyone there last night whether or not they lived there or were just visiting. This is not the only club that dictates the dress code. What bothers me is the pretentiousness of the members making the rules. It is basically their holy attitude that makes them think they are better then anyone else, live in a community better than anyone else, and have the ability to dress better than anyone else which makes them an expert on demanding a certain type of dress for other members and guests. I looked around and saw some nice looking people dressed nice for a local place on a Wed. night. I also saw some incredible other people dressed like shit. I am positive that last group is the group on the board of directors that dictated the rules. But who am I to break rules ???? Dress Code ( Wikipedia)
Sorry. I did however manage to take the above pictures of some of the guests having dinner. Oh Yes, there are some good rules and one is not allowing any use of cell phones in the dining room. That is something that all eating establishments should follow.
My mother used to always tell me to get dressed for dinner. I wonder if this is what she meant ?
CRaPUSA / Cynical Ridiculous and Pathetic, aka "A Bronx Boy" Why CRaPUSA ? This has been my platform for many years, writing about just fun and offbeat everything. I had a blast, until I got bored a year or so ago. Well, with the political climate, Covid, and general conditions world wide, I thought it was time to get back to my roots. I was born and raised in the Bronx, NY. Therefore, I am a Bronx Boy, which in my mind gives me the right to rant whenever I desire. So, hold on.
