New York.........Did you know ???????????

So the and in CRaP  can also mean "and" fun trivia about NY.....like.....did you know ?The Titanic was supposed to dock at Chelsea Piers, it final destination on April 16, 1912 ?????????? Now to Radio City.....To create the impression that all of the Rockettes are the same height, the tallest women dance in the middle of the line and the shortest stay on the ends. But, their skirts are different lengths, so altered that the bottoms hems form a straight line, which perpetuates the illusion????????? And, there are 36 Rockettes in the dance line.........All the boroughs in NY except Manhattan have a "Main Street"..............The 102nd floor of the Empire State Building was designed as  a blimp terminal, complete with booths, passenger loading areas, but only one blimp successfully docked there (for about 3 minutes). This idea was abandoned when several near disasters followed ????? how about that....Patience and Fortitde, the two lions outside the NY Public library, were carved by the Piccirilli family in their South Bronx studio, where they also carved the figure of Abe Lincoln that sits in the Lincoln Memorial in Wash. DC......???????? wow, interesting.... Do you know why a white half-moon is painted on every subway car axle in NY???????? So that transit system authorities observing operations can easily detect that all of the trains wheels are rolling......  And the NY subway system carries about 5 million passengers per week.......Speaking of subways.... Beneath the 42nd St, Port Authority station is a lower level platform once used for trains to Acqueduct Racetrack.  Now, the platform is leased bly the MTA to film companies shooting NY subway scenes...   This is fun, and thank you David Hoffman for writing a book about most of this stuff..........more to come
