Cop.........Copper..........Copout...........

Part 2 of some fun trivia to brighten up today. The first police to patrol NYC had no uniforms; officers simply wore shiny metal badges on their own clothing to identify them as part of the force. According to the NYC Police Museum, the badges were made of stamped copper, so people took to call the squad "coppers," and in time, "cops." .......The team colors of the NY Mets were chosen in homage to the 2 teams that went before them..Brooklyn (LA) Dodgers , blue, and NY (SF) Giants orange.....and because blue and orange are also the colors of the NYC flag..................The 1929 NY Yankees became the first baseball team to make numbers a permanent part of the uniform. The initial distribution of numbers was made according to the player's position in the batting order........Each year there is a one in four chance that NYC will have a white Christmas...........The black Givenchy dress worn by Audrey Hepurn in Breakfast at Tiffany's sold for $807,000 in 2006...........One of the highest priced single purchases ever charged to an American Express card was in 1994 at a Sotheby's auction when a Roy Lichtenstein painting was sold for $2.5 million. Lot's of frequent flyer miles there..........Here is a heavy one......The largest Sunday edition of the NY Times was delivered on Sept 14, 1987. It was 1,612 pages and weighed 12 pounds........Kay Thompson based her popular Eloise children's books on her own godchild ---------Liza Minnelli................There are over 10,000 books that have been written about New York City.............I guess I have a long way to go to continue my quest for NY Trivia ???????????
