I had a wonderful time last night. Out for drinks and dinner at the Old Key Lime House in Lantana. This is a wonderful down and dirty place that is right on the water, a cool crowd, (at least til we got there ), a band most of the time, lot's of Pitchers of Beer, good food, a great view, a Hugh TV Screen hanging right over the water that is probably 12 feet, a few outside bars, tables, Tiki hut and the works. Cannot say I discovered this place, but have to give credit to my friend R, who deserted us to move to this little island called Manhattan. (Really Brooklyn, but that just did not sound right. ) Oh yes, it also has one other thing that I completely hate....................soft plastic cups. How the Hell can you enjoy a nice Tito's Vodka on the rocks with a splash of cranberry juice with a piece of lime when it is serve in a fucking soft plastic cup.....Yuk........it really sucks........It should be outlawed...........It should be banned by the government. (After all, the government seems to run and ban what it wants these days, so why not soft plastic cups )....... It should be boycotted......It's terrible....... and after my third one last night, I had to stop........ Maybe this doesn't bother you, but I hate it.... I want a nice real glass for my drink... certainly not plastic..... OK, if you want to give me some cold water in a soft plastic cup, I can live with it and will let you do that because we were sitting outside... Now I am not sure what rules, if any, are made for serving drinks outdoors, but I am sure it is up to the establishment.
I was with some friends from Chicago, and my friend H from here. I guess I was the only one that was bothered by this. H was drinking beer from a bottle (glass bottle I presume), so he was fine. The other couple didn't really seem to mind.....at least they didn't say anything until I began to bitch about it. .But I did... of course..
There is just something really disgusting about soft plastic cups, unless of course you are on the beach or maybe at a ball park. But in a cool restaurant/bar........Give me a break.......There has gotta be some crusade I can join or create against the use of soft plastic drinks being served in outdoor seating places. Maybe that is the problem.........The damn name would be too long. I gave a urine sample last week at the doctors and they used the same plastic cup that I was served a drink in last night. Am I glad I only thought of that now, and not last night. Glad I shared that with you, right.
But my love affair with plastic cups does not end here...................... This is making me more nuts. The new bottle of Zephyrhills water. The advertising on this bottled water is enough to make me puke.. You can see most of it from the picture...This going green shit seems to be going a little to far. The ad says it is made with 30@ less plastic than the average half liter bottle. It features a new label that is 30% smaller...What does that shit mean ????? And here is the best that I am copying right from the bottle that I have in front of me...."This bottle and cap contain an average of 20% less plastic than our original 0.5 L Eco-Shape bottle and cap. Be Green " It seems to me it is all a lot of shit to use that crappy small bottle cap that is impossible to open or close.....Time to buy Costco water. At least they are honest enough to say nothing except charge less money for the water.
Maybe the Old Key Lime House will go green and start using smaller crappy plastic cups for their $12.00 drinks......
