Losing the Super Market Battle

We are not losing the battle.....We have lost the battle. Shopping in your local supermarket used to be an experience.  We were able to buy certain things that weren't wrapped in plastic.  Forget it. Nearly 90% of everything we purchase in supermarkets today is either frozen, wrapped in plastic, or in a can or container.  They might as well have comfortable chairs around, give everyone a computer with a virtual store on it, and let us click what we need.  Obviously there are no more friendly faces in the meat department, produce department, deli counter or bakery department as well. What we do see, however, are the department heads putting out the merchandised that was made and packaged somewhere else.

         We have become completely fucked as a consumer. All we are capable of doing is rolling around those stupid carts and trying to stay clear of some old person who has left their cart in the middle of the aisle while they are looking for something, or some mothers with their screaming fucking kids sitting in those toy like carts when they should be walking with their moms like everyone else.  After all, some of these dumb ass kids look like they are 10 years old and they are just yelling for some damn cookies that mom doesn't want to buy. (BTW....I have no problem with young kids being in the cart and yelling and screaming )   Right.

        It's just no fun to shop. Time was you went to the Deli department and aside from the cheese and meats there was all kinds of salads, spreadable cheeses, pickles, slaws, and a variety of other home made stuff....Now that is all in plastic containers somewhat near the deli department. They do however still cut cheese and meats......But for how much longer ?

       Then comes your always nice smelling bakery department. This also used to be filled with delicious looking and smelling breads, rolls, bagels, pastries, cakes etc. that were made on premises.....Look again....Sure, there still are some items that are not already wrapped in plastic, but not for long....See if you can find a roll or a loaf of bread that isn't already wrapped in plastic ? Or get something sliced if it isn't already ?  Better yet, see if you can find a bakery in your neighborhood ?
       I have no problem with progress, health safety issues, or merchants doing what needs to be done to be profitable.  I just have a problem with all the great things we grew up with being taken away on a constant basis...

       So Fuck You Mr. Big Supermarket chain.....I am going to find the supermarket pictured above and shop there. And if everything is packaged...........................well so be it.
