Not Made in America

As Andy Rooney would probably say... "Did you ever wonder what is made in America ? "  I feel that way, especially because I was in an industry that stopped manufacturing in America years ago.
I was in the apparel business and there is probably less than 5% of the total industry that is now made in the USA.  I was shocked to discover some of the following statistics that I would like to share with you.  Why ?????  I don't really know, however it's really pathetic to realize some of these things we have grown up are no longer made in America, by Americans. Remember that Radio Flyer Red Wagon you had when you were a kid ?  Not one has been made in America since 2004.
That Rawlings baseball you also played with when you were a kid......Yes, that has not been made here since 1969.  Converse Shoes........gone since 2001.......Dress Shirts since 2002 when Hathaway closed it's US plant........Mattel Toys since 2003........Levi Jeans has not been made here since 2003........Vending Machines since 2003.........Televisions since 2004..........Cellphones as well my friend.....Yes, of the 1.2 billion cell phones in the world, not one was made in the USA since 2008.

It doesn't stop here.  I am just mentioning some of the Iconic names that we are all familiar with. And it keeps  on going.  Thomas Edison would roll over now if he knew that his greatest invention has been outlawed by Congress. By 2014 all incandescent bulbs will be gone.  In fact, the last big US factory closed several months ago, although there is one small plant in PA. that is still open.....For Now.

There has not been a Television made in the USA since 2004.   What does all this mean ???????
Not a damn thing.  This will go on, and on, and on..........It's all about the money.  But then again......it always was...... So do a little thing and play this little game.  Next time you are shopping for clothing, electronics, toy's, or just about anything.................Look at the label either on the article, or on the box.  See if you can find

Good Luck with that project.   Not mentioned above are the many products that are made in foreign countries, but assembled in the US. Wow, I would like to see that list.  But I am thinking after watching the JETS lose again today...............What if we made the team in China and did it much better for much less money ???????? Something to think about......
