The Mickey Mosque Club

WTF is wrong with this country ?  Why is there even a discussion going on about building a Muslim mosque 2 blocks from ground zero ?  First and foremost there remains the very real fact that New Yorkers will never allow one truck, one contractor, one construction worker, one piece of equipment to ever set foot in this proposed location without either burning it, destroying it, and possibly making it vanish.     OK, lets back up somewhat.
I am a born and bred New Yorker.  I grew up a few blocks from Yankee Stadium, lived in Queens after the Bronx, moved to LI during my first marriage and then finally moved into the City , where I stayed until I lost my mind and moved to Florida.  ( I was only following the Jewish guide to getting old and moved to what I thought was the Promised Land ).  Living in the City, as anyone who is from NY knows, is measured by blocks.  In other words (for you foreigners and Muslim's) ..........I live a few blocks from Lincoln Center,  I live down the block from Riverside Park, I work 3 blocks from Saks, My showroom is 2 blocks from Mangia restaurant.........etc.......etc......... Everything is measured in blocks, blocks, blocks.  If we are going somewhere, we simply say I'll meet you at so and so, as it is only 6 blocks from here and I'll be there in 5 minutes.   Or, I don't have to take a cab, it's only 7 blocks from here and I'll walk......  Now your getting the point.  I will get back to this later.

I, like every other New Yorker, will never forget 9/11.  I am sure most of the US will not either, but not to the degree we New Yorkers do.  That day took something very sacred from all of us.  Aside from the 3,000 + deaths, it took some of New York.  Most of us will not only never forget what happened, and will carry that around with us forever.  It just was not right.  Nothing more, nothing less.
I personally believe in everyone having his or her own beliefs and right to those beliefs.  I also believe in freedom of speech, and the rights of business's and groups to buy, sell, build, and do pretty much what they want, within the extent of our laws.  I don't usually get very serious or very involved in most serious debates because I really don't give a shit, and It is not that important to me.
But now..........I feel somewhat different and compelled to speak out to whoever will listen.  Before, I spoke of Blocks and how they are a NY was of life.  2 Blocks is nothing. 2 Blocks is like being right next door. 2 Blocks is only a few NY steps away.   I understand the Muslims have the right to build anything within code on property they own..................But...............It is just not right.................Not.there...........Not now.................Not ever.......  There are plenty of Mosque's in NY, and if they want another one, it is fine with me.....................But again..........Not Near Ground Zero..........
There are plenty of other Blocks........................Just not here.................
