Did you ever try to do the right thing ? Did you ever join a local organization or are a member of one now ? Did you ever get involved with one of these groups and go to meeting after meeting ? Did you ever say to yourself, why the hell am I doing this ? Were you ever on the board in a condo or co-op ? Were you ever involved in some sort of business organization ? OK......you are now getting the point. It's all about meetings. A meeting for this... A meeting for that.
I have always tried to change the world. I have always been for the underdog and always tried to do the right thing. Usually I am, or have been anti-establishment. Come to think of it, I have always been anti everything and just do it my way. I can go on and on, but I will only mention a few things in the hopes of not pissing off too many people. I have lived in my Condo here on Singer Island for almost 10 years. It's a nice building with a fabulous view right on the ocean. When I moved in, the building was run by a BOD who had only one thing in mind. Don't spend any money and let the building look the way it does.. But, have a million meetings to make sure this nothing is done..End of subject. It was ruled by a president for years with always the same idea of living in the past and not making a change. I decided to run for the board and was elected. The meetings were the same boring thing, time after time.... I hated those meetings and they did not fix anything and did not make any changes. They did however, have lots of meetings. I fought constantly with the president, to no avail.. The meetings continued and nothing would get done. Well, the following year, through some unforeseen miracle, I not only got re-elected, but was made president as well. The point of this story is that in one year I transformed this building into a wonderful place to live, by replacing almost everything, fixing almost everything, and making lots of changes. Out meetings lasted only a few minutes (when we did have them } and we only spoke about going forward and making these wonderful changes. I had some back-up on the board, but aside from the VP, I really think no-one else knew what was happening. It was wonderful and this looked like a new building and everyone was happy.................................until the end of the year when a few people bitched about all the money spent. 10 years of neglect got fixed in one year....... Oh...by the way.......I was not elected the following year because people were concerned about money.....But it was OK, because by then my job was done......I bring all this up because in every organization, no matter what it does, you need a few people in it to make it work.....Meetings are bull shit.......and 95% of the people will continue not do anything
You would have thought I learned my lesson from that ?????? NO.....NO.....NO.......I got involved with another organization on the island that I thought would make a difference. I won't mention the name, although it really is not hard to figure out. I have been part of this for about 5 years and go to the monthly meetings, and sometimes attend the morning weekly meetings. ( By attend, I mean very seldom). The reason I don't attend is the same old shit...There are some older people involved that love to hear themselves speak. It's like they stand there and pat themselves on the back during their speech. (Believe me, they can speak about anything). There are a few people that do the work, but mostly everyone is on every one's case with ego's flying all over the place. These morning directors breakfast meetings consist of someone usually telling about how corrupt, inefficient, and stupid the city council is and how they all should be shot. (there is one good person on the council). They really should be removed, everyone from the Mayor down to each and every clerk should be fired, the police brass should all resign, and the so called political system should start from scratch.... So now you know about the city....But lets get back to this organization. It is my belief that whenever there are a group of volunteer people in any organization, you can expect only so much.. I am a firm believer of dictatorships and screw all this organization bullshit....It can't work... People just can't get along.......Ego's will always get in the way and personalities will follow. Add a little bull shit to the agenda, and some whining women, and you have one of the biggest cluster fucks around. That is it. That is the truth. That is completely factual.... That is why none of these fucking organizations work. People make a production out of everything. It is easier to have a meeting, to discuss having another meeting, to discuss maybe doing something..... Just fucken do it and worry about the consequences later... No matter what, you will not be right all the time..........It's the way of life.....It's how business operates.....It's how the government runs...........Meetings........Meetings.........Meetings........I hate meetings. Just get a few good people together and do what has to be done. You can never, nor never will please everyone............
So, to all you people that are part of any type of organization, I say to you......Screw your damn meetings......Get off your ass and just do it.
