I promised a special blog tonight and it will come later. However, right now, this very second, I am sitting in front of my computer fuming over the blatant copying I have just seen in a national chain store. I was in Bed Bath and Beyond to buy my special coffee ( and was just informed that Target has the same brand ,
Gevalia, at almost half the price ).
But that is not the point. BB & B looked completely different in my local store that I do frequent. (Again only with that 20% circular that everyone has). So , upon entering, I noticed this huge cosmetic area with all these national brands and it looked pretty good at first glance. Then I looked a little closer and saw what these low life, copying, cheating, knock off, look alike bastards did with all this merchandise. They made almost everything in stock look like the twin brother of a product that you and I have grown to love, know, admire, use, etc. I saw what I thought was Scope, Listerine, Johnson & Johnson, Band Aid, and other name's that I am sure you know and have know for years. I would have sworn they were the original products.
Sure they changed the name to protect a major law suit, but certainly kept their identity. They are using a name called " Face Values "......They really should change that name to Copy Cat Cheaters and Knock off Product. It really does have a nicer ring to it. What is wrong with this picture ? What ever happened to creating your own identity and being able to promote your own product ? I think it is terrible and I for one will never purchase another thing in that Store...............Unless of course they send me a generic mailer good for a free product of one of their phony knock offs.......Regardless, management should be ashamed of themselves for allowing this and not having the balls to do these products under the Bed, Bath & Beyond name.
