Playing with My Balls !!!!!! aka Stick Ball

Stick Ball...Back in the day of Black and White in a little place called the Bronx, and only a few blocks from Yankee Stadium, real kids played real ball with this pink round rubber ball made by Spalding.  It had nothing on it but the word Spalding, and that was the only ball we ever used, or any kid ever used to play stickball. There would be no game if there were not a Spalding pink ball. The rules were simple as there were usually 3 or 4 kids on a team and baseball rules were somewhat followed (http://www.streetplay.com/stickball/halloffame/} although manhole covers in the street was the measure of how far you hit the ball. (You were a star if you could hit the ball 2 manhole covers deep) Bats were broom handles that we managed to get from our mothers and tape up the handle, if of course we were lucky enough to find tape.  Bases were usually a car door, or some creative thing we found in the street.  The link above goes into much detail.  These games usually lasted till we got tired, or it was nigh time, or we would make up the number of innings as we went along.  Sometimes we would break a window or two with a line drive ball.  That would at times end the game much sooner. If the cops came they would take away our sticks.  The good thing is some of the men at the local candy store (like in the movie "A Bronx Tale", would manage to get them back for us. Remember, there were 6 story apartment buildings on both sides of the street side by side.  I did not know what grass was other than in Yankee Stadium, until I was about 13 and we moved to the country. (Queens, New York).  The memories of Stick Ball will live in my mind forever..........But...I goggled Spalding and guess what I found????? A Spalding Hi-bounce ball... What The F**k is this world coming to???? A Hi-bounce ball???? This is a disgrace, a crime, and a bullshit excuse for hundreds of thousands of kids who grew up in poor sections and played in the streets. It is like neglecting the Baseball Hall of Fame, Old Baseball Cards, but most important are the Memories I will always have.  So to you Spalding and your faggy Hi-bounce ball I say FU.  At least call it Spalding Bronx Ball, Hall of Fame Ball, Pink Ball, But Hi-bounce ball...no, no, no, no.  Actually, I am getting a pain in my balls from looking at this Pink Ball..........Some things just should not be changed. Pink Spalding Balls are one of them.
