Sometimes we just have to look twice to make sure we are talking about the same thing. I have been a Best Buy customer for some time now. Not really a big customer, but never the less, was in the store for computer needs, and probably some other stuff. About 6 months ago I joined their special promotion club (or whatever the hell they call it ) as it would offer me some cash back for future purchases.
Why not ? It was free and what did I have to lose ? Except of course those annoying emails that come all too often whenever you sign up for something that of course will never wind up being free. Well, I did it, and was able to put up with those ridiculous emails that seemed to be arriving weekly for the past several months. It told me that I had accumulated a certain amount of money that I could use on my next purchase in the store. I simply had to go to my little best buy app on my smart phone and click on the coupon that had the exact amount printed there. No big deal, no problem, nothing really to complain about........Until....yesterday when I went to my local Best Buy to purchase a wireless Wi Fi Extender. I was so happy that I was getting a $69.95 product and had about $25.00 on my coupon on my phone.
So there I was with my wi-fi extender in one hand, my smart phone in the other with the app open and clearly showing. I was one happy camper knowing I was getting a bargain. Hell, it was like almost having a real 40% coupon in my hand... Wait...it was...So this nice young guy rings up the extender, and then scans my smart phone, and then looks at me and says......."Sorry Sir.......this has expired"...I looked at him and said "Huh".....I have been getting emails from Best Buy on a weekly basis reminding me that I had this aprx $25.00 balance on my account. Nowhere, or without my knowledge did they say it would expire on a given day!!!!!!!!!! Anyway, this nice salesperson told me they are only good for 90 days and somewhere, someplace, in some ultra tiny print does it say "90 day expiration".
Well, the Worst Buy stock is down almost 30% during these past 6 months and I single handed will do my best to help it go down some more. Naturally I did not purchase the extender, and my Best Buy App is no longer on my smart phone.
Can you guess who will never set foot in another Best Buy ? It's just the deception and the not being real part that pissed me off. BTW, All their future emails will now be going into my special app also known as "Spam Folder".
