Do You Wonder ? Or Really Give a Shit ?

Do we really care ? Why the fuck is Mayor Bloomberg (NYC) getting involved with the portion size of soft drinks ? In the news this morning the following poll reflected the feelings of most of us. 65% of Americans oppose the large-soda ban.  53% of all New Yorkers oppose the proposal.  My feeling Mr. Mayor........You are in my Boob Hall of Fame.

     
If you can't become president of these United States, the only logical thing to do is follow in the footsteps of Former Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain. Become a talk show host on Atlanta's WSB radio, which draws about 6 million listeners...Atta Boy Herman............From Pizza to President Hopeful to Radio.   

        Yup.....That is Lindsay Lohan...Looks pretty good for her role as Elizabeth Taylor on a future TV movie...What are the odds of her finishing that without fucking it up.....Good Luck Lindsay.

      
  Here is a good one......Be careful if you live in Jacksonville Florida and have to go to court. The area's new county courthouse has failed its fire safety test for the second year in a row. The problem is so bad, officials are considering closing the place and reopening the old county courthouse.....Is that fucked up or what ?

   It really doesn't matter where we look for news, how we watch it on TV or on-line, or on our Ipads, smart phones, listen in our cars , trucks, etc.....There is so much useless shit on all the time it is almost amusing. I usually watch the news on TV in the morning while drinking a cup of coffee, while reading the NY Post on my I Pad. I don't know what makes me laugh more ?  Maybe it's just time to go back to porn. At least there are no surprises there, it's constant, and we always know how it is going to turn out.

Dirty, Filthy, or Healthy ?

                Hard to imagine that such filth has returned for the second Sunday.  Maybe it's me being a complete pain in the ass, but maybe not.  OK, I will tell you where it is.

              The pictures were taken from my cell right in front of L A Fitness where I guess I also went  last Sunday morning.  I have written about this chain before and just don't understand why they would let something like this happen. It is a good health club, but not so quick on keeping up with things.  I know that if I were the owner, regional manager, or someone up the corporate ladder I would have done something by now. Probably would have fired the manager of this location.

          
I am really not kidding about the pictures of the garbage. It is directly in front of the main entrance. Probably no more than 10 feet from the front door and in clear site of whoever is at the front desk checking in customers.    The picture above is of the elevator that has been that way for over a week now.....That is really pathetic...Oh wait....is this 1974 or 2012 ?

          Oh, I took this picture also of the paper towel machine on the upper level. I thought I was going to take a few so as to clean one of the machines before I got on it.   Guess it was hard to do with no paper in the paper machine.
          On an older post, I remember a picture of the water cooler that did not have cold water for almost three weeks......Yes, that was because the plug was lying underneath the machine and nobody bothered to plug it in.

         My question then becomes as to the health issue of going to a gym ?  Is it healthy to work out and be in a gym that is not very clean ?   I don't think so.   What is worse ?  Not working out or exercising or hanging out in a filthy environment ?

        Part of the solution would be to have some really great female trainers like pictured above.  Who am I kidding ?  I would rather they get their act together and clean the damn place.

Don't be sad. Everything at some point ends. I usually write about things that piss me off, or bother me, or upset me, or make me wonder, but right now after a few too many drinks I have to concentrate on other stuff. I am thinking about things that are not Ridiculous, not cynical and certainly not pathetic...... Actually, all they really are.....................are gone.........or almost gone......

         There are so many things in this category that I thought I would write about it every now and then.  It really is something we don't think about every single day, but holy shit, when we do we say, "What The Fuck"   that doesn't exist anymore....It seems like only yesterday there were phone booths everywhere and on every block in the city.. You put your dime or quarter in it and dialed your number. You never gave a second thought about the smell in the booth as that was part of the charm...There was no speaker so you jammed about 2 or 3 of your friends in there to hear the conversation... There was, however, a handful of cellphones around then....But try to find a phone booth now.

       The Automat in NY was another great institution. (check out this blog all about it...  http://crapusa.blogspot.com/search?q=AUTOMAT  )   This was wonderful growing up in NY. I would love when my parents took me there...Put some nickels , dimes, or quarters in the slots and out came the food...This was the treat of treats....

        Can you imagine how much fun it was doing this ?  Oh well, another wonderful thing gone.

    
   Drive in Movies....What boy or girl couldn't wait to get to the Drive In to make out.  Maybe we didn't get laid then, but we certainly made out and made the windows fog up.  How many of you remember that ?  How many of us learned how to become the best kissers in the neighborhood thanks to the Drive In..........RIP dear Drive In Movies.

        Bathing Caps......Who doesn't remember seeing their mothers wearing these ugly things in the summer if you were lucky enough to be by a pool or lake ?  Actually, this is one thing that I think is wonderful that it is gone.

      

We all worked back in the day. Actually there were plenty of jobs and no-one ever blamed any political party for anything.  Either in school, work or wherever there was this thing called carbon paper.  I guess that is because there was no computer or anything electrical to copy stuff. We had no scanners or copiers to use.   Oh, the good old days of having that fucking black ink from the carbon paper allover your hands....Yuk.......Anyway gone is carbon paper.

      Ah....The good old national pastime....Baseball....... Does anyone remember when a baseball player signed with one team and retired still playing for that same team ?   Oh, the good old days of loyalty when players played for the love of the game.....That is also gone.

      Blue Laws ????? Anyone remember that ?  Not so long ago when you couldn't shop on Sundays and especially buy any alcohol beverages....  I even remember there were no baseball games on Sunday night.....That has certainly changed.

      What about being able to beat the shit out of your kid ?  Can't do that anymore.

      Anyway, hope you enjoyed this little trip down memory lane about shit that is no more.....If you think it was fun, please let me know and I will do this every now and then..  I have to admit and give credit to this wonderful book called Going, Going , Gone....It has a bunch of stuff that is no longer around......
      As I type on my keyboard I think of fountain pens with bottled ink......How did they manage spell check back then ?
